We had to come up with three designs/ideas for a collaborative website that we could make as part of our Network Aesthetics module.
IDEA #1 – UK Based UFC Website
UFC is the fastest growing sport in the world right now, with the UK fan base expanding exponentially.
However, being that UFC is an American run/based organisation, the UK does not currently have a website dedicated to its fighters and news specifically about them.
The site I would set up, would be similar to that of the already existing US sites, with it taking more of a forum style.
Particular users who know a lot about the sport can sign in and post things about the fighters or particular bouts that are taking place.
The forum could be split into categories, encompassing all aspects of the sport.
IDEA #2 – Minecraft Skin Builder
Minecraft as a game is hugely popular both on console and computer, appealing to a wide range of gamers.
As always, customisation within the game has become highly demanded with Mojang (the creators of minecraft) recently releasing skin and texture packs for download.
The problem however, is that users are still confined to wearing a finite amount of Mojang created skins and weekly updates from the company can’t exactly be expected.
This is the gap in the market, my website is hoping to exploit.
Currently on the PC version, you can find within the game files a template for the avatar skins. Once you have downloaded this template, you can simply replace it with your own design and drop it back into the game.
This isn’t completely straightforward to everyone, and as such an online tool that did it for them would be widely used.
IDEA #3 – Rate my stack
Similar to MTV’s scarred, users would submit nasty falls or breaks they’ve caught on camera/managed to get a picture of and other users would rate it.
There could be fall of the week/month/all time.
Users could rate the falls by 4 different categories, such as queasiness, amount of blood etc which would then allow users to find other falls based on these traits.
Would be a simple picture/video upload site with a space for users to rate the video out of 5 stars.
