Week One/Two

For this module I had to create an interactive game in 5 weeks using both Cinema 4D and Unity.

The module outline  is as follows:

  • Clearly outline game concept and treatment
  • Clearly explain rules / objectives
  • Visually or textually describe an example scenario
  • Provide sketches of avatars / characters / arenas
  • Provide sketches / illustrations for graphics, cut scenes, full motion video, in-game graphic
  • Provide a brief explaination of game AI
  • Present ideas for music / in game sounds / sound effects

My idea was to create a low poly first-person shooter where the protagonist travels between different planets, trying to kill as many aliens on each planet as he can. All planets will have their own landscapes/arenas inhabited with a particular relevant style of alien that you must fight and destroy to move on to the next stage (or planet in this case). Each new planet allows the player to upgrade his gun to a more powerful version in order to deal with the increasing population and intelligence of the aliens.

The first week of the course was introducing the idea so I could go away and think about the kind of game I wanted to create.

In this the second week, I have gone away and collected similar work and compiled a gallery of useful inspiration that I can refer to during the creation stage.

The styles I will use in my final game are based on all of the landscapes, weaponry and character design shown below.
